You have seen the wall panels you want to install in your home, brilliant! However, when you come to buy the design you had your eye on, you find that they come in different thicknesses?

What does this mean? Does the thickness of wall panels really matter?

In light of this, we have summarised the benefits and differences of each thickness of panel.

5mm Panels

  • Super slim 5mm thick panels for minimum intrusion in your bathroom, wet room or kitchen.

  • Close cell technology - Only with Claddtech panels, close cell technology packing those strength reinforcing cells tightly together to give a much higher compression strength, a better insulation and superior sound characteristics.

  • Easy installation due to being lightweight and their tongue and groove design for a seamless fitting.

  • Multi purpose usage - Brilliant for ceilings, walls, in shower enclosures, hallways, offices, salons. (Please note all of our panels are for interior use only)

  • Go over existing wall tiles/panels.

  • Low cost compared to 8mm and 10mm panels

  • Can be fitted vertically or horizontally

  • Taller than most standard size panels

  • 250mm wide, not 200mm wide like some competition. Claddtech 250mm wide panels equate to more coverage at a lower cost than other branded 200mm wide panels.

8mm Panels

  • Thicker than 5mm panels, giving you a stronger, more durable wall panel with increased impact resistance. More versatile than 10mm panels as with 10mm panels we do not recommend them for a ceiling, whereas 8mm panels you can install on your ceilings or walls. Bonus!

  • Tongue & groove for a seamless, easy installation

10mm Panels

  • 2.4m long x 1m wide - equating to more coverage width wise. Perfect for shower enclosures

  • Thickest panel of the Claddtech range.

  • A better seamless finish, with less interlocking required due to panel width.

  • Perfect for those with smaller children, due to being able to withstand more knocks than 5mm or 8mm panels.

  • They make awesome shower enclosures, shower cubicles and great feature walls.

  • Great for commercial use such as changing rooms, communal toilets, dog groomers.

  • Tongue & Groove

  • Can be installed behind a gas or electric hob if protected by a piece of heat resistant glass.
